His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Monday visited the Rapid Response Unit, and was briefed by its command on the organisational, training, operational and logistic arrangements.

Upon arrival at the unit, the Supreme Commander was received by King’s Adviser for Military Affairs and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben.

The force, nicknamed “Desert Hawks”, was formed under Royal Directives, as a flexible, self-sufficient unit able to execute missions day and night and under different weather conditions.

The King praised the advanced level of the force, voicing admiration of the skills and high morale its personnel enjoy.

His Majesty visited the force last week to check on the progress of its personnel’s training.
