Parliament on Sunday presented its response to the Speech from the Throne, which was delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah on 15 November to inaugurate the 19th Parliament’s ordinary session.
With His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in attendance, the Senate’s response, delivered by Senate President Faisal Fayez at the Royal Hashemite Court, covered the importance of the upcoming political phase that Jordan is embarking on in its second centennial.
The Senate president said the second centennial will be one of political, economic, administrative, and social development that builds on Jordanians’ achievements and moves ahead gradually and methodically.
In the House of Representatives’ response, Speaker Abdul Karim Dughmi said moving ahead in modernisation while safeguarding achievements requires clear programmes for the way forward, stressing the concrete impact of the proposed constitutional amendments and the draft political parties and election laws.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Judicial Council President Mohammad Ghazou, Constitutional Court President Hisham Tal, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, and Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaytah attended Parliament’s response to the Speech from the Throne.
