His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday called for bolstering coordination among government agencies to implement the public sector modernisation plan.

During a meeting held at Al Husseiniya Palace with the concerned officials, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah said all must work collaboratively to support public administration modernisation.

His Majesty urged devising a communication plan targeting citizens, especially public servants and university students, to clarify decisions taken within the modernisation plan.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh stressed the government’s commitment to implementing public sector modernisation, highlighting the progress made so far and the main pillars of the human resources strategy that will be adopted, as well as the goal of establishing the Civil Service and Public Administration Commission.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation Nasser Shraideh outlined the steps needed to establish the commission, in order for it to commence operation early next year.

He noted plans to oversee the Civil Service Bureau through the transitional phase, as well as the future role of the Public Administration Institute in building the capacities of public servants and expanding quality training programmes.

The minister also highlighted the human resources strategy’s focus on centralising policy planning and decentralising implementation, in addition to its goals to capitalise on employees’ capabilities and qualifications, while bolstering digitisation and fostering an institutional culture that promotes innovation and public service.
