King meets ambassadors of EU countries in Jordan

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday met at Al Husseiniya Palace with a number of ambassadors of European Union countries to Jordan.
The meeting covered Jordan’s modernisation efforts, with King Abdullah reaffirming the Kingdom’s seriousness in moving forward with the implementation of the political, economic, and administrative modernisation tracks as a comprehensive national project.
The meeting also addressed Jordan’s strategic relations with the EU and European countries, as His Majesty highlighted keenness on bolstering these ties, in service of mutual interests and promoting regional stability and prosperity.
His Majesty expressed appreciation of the EU’s continuous support for Jordan, especially for refugees and host communities, calling on the international community to continue to shoulder its responsibility in dealing with the refugee crisis.
The latest regional and international developments were also discussed, including the meetings recently held in Aqaba and Sharm El Sheikh, as part of efforts to restore calm in the Palestinian Territories.
In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi gave a briefing on the outcomes of these meetings, and the necessary next steps to maintain calm and de-escalation, especially during Ramadan.
Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Syrian crisis and the need to step up international efforts to reach a political solution that addresses all its humanitarian, security, economic, and political repercussions, in addition to efforts to support Iraq’s security and stability.
Moreover, the meeting addressed Jordan-EU cooperation in countering terrorism within a holistic approach, especially through the Aqaba Process initiative.
Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.
