His Majesty King Abdullah and US President Joe Biden on Monday reaffirmed Jordan’s and the United States’ commitment to continue working towards global and regional peace.

In a phone call, King Abdullah and President Biden discussed the deep-rooted bilateral ties and the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as means to expand it across all fields.

His Majesty expressed appreciation of the United States’ support for Jordan in all sectors.

Discussing the developments in the region, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, the King and President Biden noted the importance of maintaining coordination to prevent the recurrence of violations in Jerusalem that may undermine peace prospects and lead to further escalation.

His Majesty reiterated the importance of stepping up efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace that fulfils the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of their independent state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The King urged respecting the historical and legal status quo at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, noting that Jordan continues its efforts to safeguard Islamic and Christian holy sites, under the Hashemite Custodianship.
