King returns home after working visit to New York

His Majesty, King Abdullah, on Thursday returned home following a working visit to New York, leading Jordan’s delegation at the 70th Plenary Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During the UNGA meeting, King Abdullah delivered a speech at the plenary session in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the King participated in the counter-terrorism summit hosted by the US President Barack Obama to discuss international coalition efforts to fight extremism and terrorist groups in the world.

During the visit, His Majesty also met with a number of world leaders, officials, heads of delegates participating in the UN meeting, and discussed regional and international issues, mainly Israeli attacks and violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Al Haram Al Sharif.

Talks between the King and world leaders also touched upon the latest developments of the Syrian crisis and means of supporting the Kingdom to shoulder the burdens of hosting the influx of Syrian refugees.

His Majesty also participated in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meeting, devoted to support Jordan’s efforts in hosting Syrian refugees, and met with a number of US business leaders and visited the US-based West-Ward Plant in New Jersey, owned by Jordan-based Al Hikma Pharmaceuticals drug company.
