King, Saudi King discuss regional issues

His Majesty King Abdullah and Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz held talks on Thursday which focused on means to boost relations between the two countries as well as the latest developments at the Arab and regional levels.
The two leaders also discussed several issues of joint concern during their talks, held in Jeddah.
Expressing pride in the distinguished Jordanian-Saudi relations, the two leaders stressed their commitment to boosting ties in various fields, in a manner that achieves the joint interests of the people of both countries.
King Abdullah expressed Jordan’s appreciation of Saudi’s positions, led by the Saudi king, who stressed his support for Jordan, under all circumstances.
Regarding the conditions in Gaza as a result of the unjust Israeli aggression, the two leaders stressed support for the efforts exerted to end the Israeli offensive and to put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The King stressed the need for intensifying international efforts to ensure the resumption of peace negotiations that should deal with all final-status issues, in a manner that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people in ending the Israeli occupation and the establishment of a state on Palestinian national soil, on the basis of the two-state solution, relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Turning to the situation in Syria, His Majesty stressed the need to reach a comprehensive political solution to the crisis that ends the suffering of the Syrian people and guarantees the unity and security of their country.
Talks also covered the developments in Iraq, with the King reaffirming Jordan’s support for all efforts to safeguard the unity of all Iraqis by launching a comprehensive political process that engages all components of the community.
Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh, His Majesty’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury, King’s Adviser Abdullah Wreikat, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, General Intelligence Department Director Faisal Shobaki and Jordan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Jamal Shamaileh attended the meeting, along with several senior Saudi officials.
His Majesty was received by Prince Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Arabia’s deputy crown prince, second deputy prime minister and adviser and special envoy of the Saudi King, and senior Saudi officials upon his arrival at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport.
His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent.
