King tours SOFEX, attends military exercises

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday toured the Special Operations Forces Exhibition 2006 (SOFEX) and met with several heads of military delegations taking part in the exhibition.



King Abdullah visited various stalls at the exhibition, where wide-ranging, state-of-the-art defence, security and anti-terrorism arms as well as military vehicles and aircraft are on display.



Some 300 special operations and national security exhibitors representing 50 countries are taking part in the military fair.



At the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) pavilion, His Majesty was briefed on the bureau's latest achievements in the field of development and the design of military and civilian equipment.



King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, attended a demonstration of operational and tactical activities by special operations forces, including displays of an air assault, reconnaissance procedures, field strikes and air supply operations, among others.



Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal, Prince Ali, Prince Hussein Ben Abdullah, Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, Royal Court Chief Salem Turk and several senior officers and heads of official military delegations attended the military exercises.



Also on Wednesday, the King visited the Public Security Department (PSD) and met with PSD Director Lt. General Mohammad Aitan who briefed His Majesty the King on the PSD's services.
