His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday returned home after a short visit to Turkey, where he discussed with leaders there ways to enhance bilateral ties and recent political developments in the region.

During a meeting with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in Ankara, King Abdullah highlighted cooperation between Jordan and Turkey, saying that it "serves as an example for other countries."

The King and Sezer called for pushing the peace process forward after Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.

In remarks to the press after the talks, the King said: "It is important that a viable and independent Palestinian state is established."

The Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the King said, would not be constructive unless it is part of the roadmap.

The King expressed support for Iraq's political process, in which, he said, all groups in Iraq should participate.

King Abdullah also met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
