King arrives in Singapore

His Majesty King Abdullah started a two-day working visit to Singapore to take part in the World Economic Forum's Asia Roundtable 2005.



On the sideline of the two-day event, His Majesty the King will meet with Singaporean President S. R. Nathan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and other Asian key businessmen to discuss means to enhance economic ties between Jordan and Asian countries as well as the latest political developments in the region.



Commenting on His Majesty King Abdullah's participation, the World Economic Forum Director in Asia, Lee Howell, said: "King Abdullah's participation shows that there are leaders in the Middle East who are seriously looking forward to boosting the political, economic, social, and cultural relations with Asia in all fields."



Around 600 prominent economic, government, academic and media figures from 34 countries are expected to take part in the event organized in cooperation with the Singapore Economic Development Board under the working theme, “Tilting the global balance: The strategic implications of Asia's growth.”



In a keynote address to the April 28-29 meeting, King Abdullah will shed light on the political and economic developments in the Middle East as well as Jordan's reform and development plans.
