His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Saturday following a working visit to the US during which the King held talks with US President George Bush and get a US commitment affirming that the solution of the Palestinian issue should be based on the international legitimacy resolutions.
Upon arrival, the King was received by Queen Rania Al Abdullah, a number of the Royal family members, acting prime minister/ deputy prime minister for economic affairs as well as other senior officials.
King Abdullah's talks with the US President led to giving a strong push to the peace process and putting it on its proper track.
The King and Bush stressed that the final status issues of the Palestinian cause should be negotiated by the concerned parties to reach the establishment of a viable Palestinian state that lives side by side with Israel in peace and security.
His Majesty affirmed that any comprehensive settlement for the Palestinian- Israeli conflict should come within a comprehensive and lasting agreement for the final status and its should be based on the foundations of the Madrid Conference, the principle of land for peace, UN Security Council Resolutions 242, 338 and 1397, and the Arab peace initiative.
"Failing to achieve such an outcome will invoke other options all of which will endanger my country's interests and that of the region. This is one of the reasons why Jordan insists on a two-state solution," King Abdullah noted.
