King Meets EU Ambassadors

His Majesty King Abdullah, on Tuesday affirmed that the achievement of security and stability in the Middle East is contingent with ending Israeli occupation and ensuring the Palestinian people's right in establishing their independent state on their national soil.

During his meeting with EU Ambassadors in Amman at Ragadan Palace, on Tuesday King Abdullah stressed that Jordan would proceed in its social and economic reform plans because "we see them very necessary for the future of the country and the coming generation."

"Our focus now is on developing political life, by giving greater attention political development, which topped the government's agenda" the King added.

"There are important opportunities for the government and the parliament during the coming few years to develop national economy and build up political life, which guarantees the establishment of powerful political parties armed with programs addressing the youth problems, women, human rights and other key issues," King Abdullah said during the meeting which was attended by Royal Court Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.

His Majesty expressed His appreciation to assistance offered by the EU countries to Jordan which enhance Jordan's steps towards social, economic and political development.

Talks during the meeting also touched upon regional and international issues, where the King underlined the need to reinvigorate the Middle East peace process and warned against the ongoing cycle of violence in the Palestinian areas which can only breed more violence and frustration.
