His Majesty King Abdullah II Saturday telephoned French President Jacques Chirac congratulating him on his re-election for a second term in office.

During the phone conversation, the Monarch hailed Chirac's wise policies and his pivotal role to back Arab causes , particularly France's unwavering support to fair , historic and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and the region's latest developments triggered by Israel's flagrant aggression. Chirac congratulated the Monarch on the occasion of the Independence Day, saying Jordan is a key partner in efforts to achieve just, comprehensive and durable peace in the Middle East.

Chirac expressed satisfaction that Jordan-Euro Association Agreement took effect since May 1, 2002.
