His Majesty King Abdullah opened talks on Tuesday with U.S. National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice on bilateral relations and the current efforts to reduce tension in the Middle East.

The King noted the significant role the U.S. can play in the coming few days to crystallize a clear vision for the current arrangements to convene an international conference on Middle East peace. King Abdullah also stressed that all the concerned parties should attend the proposed conference.

Discussions about the Middle East issue should be within a limited time frame and should lead to ending Israeli occupation and the establishment of the Palestinian state. Clear and specific steps should be adopted to bring back hopes for the Palestinians and to all peoples in the region, the King said.

The King`s talks covered bilateral relations particularly the U.S. economic aid to Jordan.
