His Majesty King Abdullah Tuesday discussed with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Josep Pique Europe`s role in the efforts exerted to end the circle of violence in the Palestinian territories and pave the way for return to the negotiation table.

His Majesty affirmed the importance of EU`s role side by side with the American efforts to calm the situations down and release negotiations.

He pointed out to the necessity to take practical steps that would end the currently deteriorating security situation and bring things to normal.

Pique, who is currently touring the region, said that EU will help the Palestinian and Israeli sides bring about calmness and security in the Palestinian territories. He hailed His Majesty King Abdullah II`s support to peace and stability in the region. In another occasion, His Majesty received the visiting Japanese Deputy President of Senate.

The discussions focussed on bilateral relations and means of boosting them in all fields.
