His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received two letters from the Higher Council for Youth and the We are All Jordan Youth Commission, thanking him for his continued support of the youth sector.
In a letter addressed to young people in the Kingdom on the occasion of International Youth Day, which is observed worldwide on August 12, the King renewed his commitment to providing unlimited support to the youth and urged them to entrench a national youth culture to be passed from one generation to another.
King Abdullah also advised the younger generation to be aware of regional challenges that are leaving their impact on Jordan and to demonstrate broad-mindedness regarding economic issues.
His Majesty said the We are All Jordan Youth initiative, which was built on recommendations made by last year's We are All Jordan forum, was designed to activate the role of youth and break the stagnation and lack of initiative by encouraging young people to take the lead in efforts to achieve the envisaged change and modernisation.
We are ambitious that such an initiative would mature to yield other accomplishments, which, in turn, would lead to the rise of a young leadership capable of taking the initiative, and making a difference to the life of fellow Jordanians, the King said in the letter.
President of the Higher Council for Youth Atef Odeibat said in his letter that the King's directives outline an approach that the council will follow in implementing youth programmes seeking to realize His Majesty's vision in upgrading the work of the youth to build a bright future of Jordan.
Meanwhile, in their letter to the King, the We are All Jordan Youth Commission said they were aware of the responsibility they shoulder, adding that they highly valued the King's support for the younger generation in various fields.
The We are All Jordan Youth Commission was established last October as one of the recommendations of the We are All Jordan Youth forum, which was attended by 750 young men and women representing various universities and youth institutions in the various governorates of the Kingdom.
The commission, whose mission is to follow up on the forum's action plan and communicate with young people, formed 12 working groups, one in each governorate, to plan and implement different projects to empower Jordanian youth and benefit local communities.
