The Hashemites
The Hashemite clan is traced back to Prophet Ismail bin Ibrahim, peace be upon them. Hashem was the leader of Quraysh, Amr bin Abd Manaf, the great-grandfather of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the one who paved the way for his clan to undertake the trade journeys of winter to Yemen and summer to the Levant.
The Hashemites had the honourable task of administrating the pilgrimage to Mecca, taking care of pilgrims and serving them water as well as raising the clan’s banner. Moreover, the Hashemites founded ‘Dar Al Nadwa’, the first place for meetings and consultations.
The Hashemites regulated people’s affairs in Mecca, which cemented their religious and historical status among Quraysh’s other clans. Throughout history, the Hashemite monarchs have been recognised for their clear vision, unwavering principles, and their steadfast affirmation of Arab sovereignty.
