A Royal Decree was issued Tuesday appointing Khalid Irani as minister of environment as of 26 October 2010. Irani will hold the post concurrently with the post of minister of energy and mineral resources, which he assumed in December 2009 upon the formation of the government of Prime Minister Samir Rifai.

Irani was sworn in before His Majesty King Abdullah in the presence of the premier and the King's advisor Ayman Safadi.
