His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday urged a “maximum degree of pan-Arab solidarity”, saying that Arabs should overcome any differences that hamper their ability to effectively address political, security and economic challenges.

At a meeting with Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa, King Abdullah emphasised that settling Arab differences is the first step towards aptly serving Arab interests.

The King said it was important to build on the positive atmosphere that emerged at the Kuwait Arab Summit in January, particularly following a speech by King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia that opened the door for Arab reconciliation.

King Abdullah also highlighted the urgent need for efforts to realise Palestinian national reconciliation, urging Arab and international action to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution.

The King and Musa reviewed efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and start the rebuilding process in the coastal enclave.
