Muslims in West play important role - King

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday called for cooperation between the Muslim world and the international community to promote the true image of Islam as a religion that rejects extremism and terrorism.



At a meeting here with British Home Secretary Charles Clarke, King Abdullah highlighted the role of Muslim communities in the West.



King Abdullah reviewed the Amman Message, which was launched in November 2004 to promote Islam's tolerance and moderation.



Clarke, who commended the King's efforts to help achieve peace and stability in the region, stressed the importance of promoting Islamic values in Western societies.



The King and Clarke also discussed issues of common concern.
