His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday issued directives for the dispatch of urgent food and medical assistance to the Gaza Strip to help Palestinians cope with acute shortages of these supplies.

Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Secretary General Abdul Salam Abbadi said the JHCO will send a 23-truck convoy laden with 225 tonnes of foodstuff, in addition to large quantities of medicine and other medical supplies as well as relief aid to the Gaza Strip in the next few days.

Over the past three years, the JHCO has sent around JD53 million worth of assistance to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
