His Majesty King Abdullah and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon discussed, during a phone call on Friday, the latest developments in the Middle East, especially regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and its criminal organisations.
The UN official extended his and the international community’s condolences to King Abdullah and the Jordanian people over the loss of lives, following a terrorist attack on a military post for serving Syrian refugees on the northeastern border.
Ban expressed the UN’s support for the Kingdom under all circumstances and vowed to help the country address challenges ensuing from regional crises.
He also commended Jordan’s efforts in dealing with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and maintaining the region’s security and stability.
His Majesty urged the international community to assume its responsibilities in dealing with the refugee crisis, which, he said, is a world problem.
Jordan will not allow any circumstance to threaten the security of its borders and stability, the King stressed, highlighting the Kingdom has repeatedly called on the international community to intensify its efforts in dealing with the Syrian crisis, mainly refugees.
