His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday sent a letter to Saudi King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz, expressing his gratitude and appreciation of the Saudi king and Saudi Arabia’s support to Jordan.

“Saudi Arabia’s standing by Jordan at a time of difficult global economic conditions and a sharp increase in fuel prices, which have adversely affected the Jordanian economy, indicates your sound stand that calls for the solidarity of the nation and the right of its people to a fruitful future,” King Abdullah told the Saudi King in the letter.

The King emphasised commonalities among the Arab countries and their peoples.

“Your generous and brotherly gesture is a back up for us all,” King Abdullah said in the letter.

The King voiced appreciation for Saudi monarch’s efforts to secure Jordan’s accession to the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

In June, Jordan received a JD283 million ($400 million) grant from Saudi Arabia to implement several capital projects.
