King visits Public Security Directorate

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday visited the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and met with its director, Maj. Gen. Fadel Hmoud.
At the meeting, King Abdullah stressed the PSD’s important role in protecting citizens and safeguarding their rights, as well as upholding the rule of law.
His Majesty also called for continuing the restructuring process to enhance the PSD’s performance, affirming the importance of regular training for PSD personnel to build their capacities and enable them to undertake their duties efficiently.
The King said PSD personnel must be fully prepared to deal with various situations, voicing trust in the directorate’s capabilities to fight crime and maintain law and order.
Hmoud presented a briefing on the PSD’s plans to enhance police and security services, while building on what has been achieved, to maintain security and stability, combat and prevent crime, and uphold the law, in line with His Majesty’s vision outlined in the Sixth Discussion Paper.
The PSD’s strategy for the years 2018-2020 will be launched soon, he added, in tandem with the process of restructuring all the directorate’s units and studying means to upgrade the work and duties of all PSD departments dealing directly with the public, in line with social and security-related developments and to ensure optimum services are offered to citizens.
Hmoud said the PSD is committed to its mission, in accordance with the King’s directives, to uphold the law on all while respecting human rights.
