His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited on Wednesday the Public Security Department (PSD) where he met with PSD Director Major General Mazen Qadi.
During the visit, King Abdullah emphasised the importance of providing police services in a way that guarantees people's rights and security, adding that justice should be applied by treating all people equally and fairly.
He also pointed out the importance of following up on the implementation of development plans for the country's correctional and rehabilitation centres, which he said should be reviewed according to the latest standards in the field of correctional reform.
Highlighting the need to curb traffic accidents and reduce their impact on society, the King called on the PSD to continue its efforts to ensure safe roads in the Kingdom.
He also expressed his appreciation and confidence in PSD personnel, commending their efforts in providing quality services to protect citizens and their property.
Qadi and other senior PSD officers briefed the King on development plans and strategies currently being implemented by the department in the fields of correction and rehabilitation, traffic, and specialised training as well as means to combat and prevent crimes.
The briefing highlighted the technical and administrative enhancements in PSD anti-crime units that have enabled police to solve a considerable number of crimes and narcotics-related cases.
The briefing also showed the outcome of PSD campaigns across the Kingdom to round up wanted suspects.
