His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday visited the Prime Ministry where he discussed with Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh a number of political and economic issues.
During the meeting, King Abdullah pointed to the current critical phase and the challenges facing Jordan, stressing the importance of political and economic reforms which he said should be achieved within a comprehensive process that meets the aspirations of citizens and reflects positively on their daily life.
The King expressed appreciation for the government's efforts to achieve political reforms, mainly the completion of draft laws on the independent elections commission, on political parties, municipalities and the constitutional court, which was finalised last week.
At the meeting, the King and the prime minister also reviewed the current economic situation as well as the impact of soaring prices on citizens’ every-day life. His Majesty called for further efforts to provide support and protection to citizens, mainly people with limited income. He also urged the government to accelerate the accomplishment of a consumer protection law to provide better services at reasonable prices.
