His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday visited Petra Engineering Industries Company, a major Jordanian manufacturer of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment.

Established in 1987, the leading national company employs 2,000 Jordanians in industrial, management and technical areas, while its exports, which reach a wide range of world markets, amounted to around $110 million last year.

Established with a capital of around $150 million, the company’s premises cover an area of around 300 dunums in Muwaqqar and Mafraq.

During the visit, King Abdullah was acquainted with up-to-date production technologies used at the company’s factories and production units.

His Majesty also toured a photo exhibition showcasing the firm’s history, development and various products, and was briefed by the company’s director on its goals and future plans to expand investments and cover several new areas.

The King toured the company’s factories, including a plant where sheet metal is cut and shaped into specific designs.

His Majesty also saw the automated painting line and the central unit assembly plant, where the bodies of air conditioners and cooling equipment are built, and refrigerating materials, electric panels and copper coils are installed to reach the assembly stage.

After that, refrigerating gas is added to the devices, which then go through efficiency assurance tests before being sent to market.

The King listened to a briefing on the central air-conditioning unit manufacturing plant, which is operated in line with international standards.

Moreover, His Majesty, who was accompanied by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and His Majesty’s Office Director Jafar Hassan, toured an exhibition showcasing air conditioners used in large buildings, hotels, commercial centres and hospitals.
