His Majesty King Abddullah on Monday underlined the need to develop downtown Amman and preserve the identity and history of the area.

During a meeting at the Greater Amman Municipality, the King called for exerting utmost efforts to extend the best services to citizens, stressing the importance of developing the area's infrastructure.

King Abdullah was also briefed on plans to rehabilitate downtown Amman.

Amman Mayor Omar Maani briefed the King on plans to restore areas near Al Husseini Mosque and stores on King Feisal Street, in addition to efforts to rehabilitate stores that were damaged recently by fire.
