During a meeting with a group of entrepreneurs, His Majesty King Abdullah said on Wednesday that more attention should be given to entrepreneurship to develop it to further achieve comprehensive economic development.

Entrepreneurship creates sustainable job opportunities that, in turn, help address the Kingdom’s unemployment and poverty issues, King Abdullah said.
 
His Majesty emphasised the importance of strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors, to create an incubating and supportive environment for the entrepreneurship sector in the Kingdom.
 
The King added that such an environment is prone to transform entrepreneurial ideas into productive projects on the ground.
 
The government is responsible, to the best of its ability, for providing the tools that would enable the youth to establish their projects and ensure their success and sustainability, his Majesty said.
 
He pointed to the importance of spreading the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, in addition to supporting business incubators at universities and colleges, spreading these experiences to all the governorates.
 
The King said that the private sector should contribute to the projects that will be developed within the framework of the Governorates Development Fund (GDF), to ensure that the fruits of development will be distributed evenly throughout the Kingdom.
 
For his part, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said that a project’s success is measured by its social impact, calling on entrepreneurs to focus on that aspect.
 
From the private sector, Ahli Bank Deputy CEO Saed Muasher said that preparations were under way for the launch of four key programmes that aim to transfer entrepreneurial ideas into actual projects.
 
The programmes will focus on guiding entrepreneurs, bettering coordination between the private and public sectors, encouraging Jordanians to think innovatively and supporting a research centre that would work on improving the entrepreneurial environment.
 
A representative of the National Coalition for the Development of Entrepreneurship, Laith Qasim, called on stakeholders to join efforts to support entrepreneurial projects.
 
Also speaking at the meeting, Mais Sukkar, who is working on another programme to support entrepreneurs, said that she is currently developing a website and a call centre that would provide support services for entrepreneurs.
