His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday said innovative ideas of young entrepreneurs are the Kingdom’s hopes for a brighter future, and their talents must be invested in.

King Abdullah made the remarks at the inauguration of the National Accelerator of Jordan’s Entrepreneurial Empowerment, which is affiliated with Oasis500, a fund that helps train, mentor and invest in start-ups and entrepreneurs, at the King Hussein Business Park. The centre’s main partner and supporter is the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

His Majesty stressed the need to support incubators that help fund entrepreneurs and turn their ideas into businesses, noting that entrepreneurs in the country have plenty of talent that needs attention and proper investment.

The King voiced his pride in talented Jordanian entrepreneurs working in the field of ICT and digital content, highlighting public-private partnerships in the field of ICT as a model.

His Majesty also toured the facility and was briefed on several start-ups receiving support from Oasis500.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Royal Court Chief Riyad Abu Karaki, Director of His Majesty’s Office Imad Fakhoury, Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Information and Communications Hatem al-Halawani, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan and other officials.

During the opening ceremony, Usama Fayyad, Oasis500 executive chairman, said the accelerator is a gift from His Majesty to Jordanian entrepreneurs in the ICT sector.

Oasis 500 is an investment and development company. Set in Jordan, it aims to support young entrepreneurs by providing them with investment, training and mentorship in an effort to accelerate the transformation of their business ideas and start-ups into high growth companies in the ICT, digital media and mobile sectors.
