King urges Europeans to invest in Jordan, boost trade cooperation

His Majesty King Abdullah encouraged European businessmen and representatives of European mega companies on Thursday to invest in Jordan and increase their economic and commercial cooperation with the Kingdom.

During a meeting with the European businessmen, the King briefed representatives of companies on the various measures that Jordan has taken to create a conducive environment for investments to strengthen its economy.

The King explained that Jordan has undertaken several projects in order to shield the Kingdom against repercussions of the global financial crisis and highlighted several mega projects now underway in the water, energy, transport and housing sectors.

During the meeting, which was also attended by several Jordanian officials, the King listed the free trade agreements that Jordan has signed with different countries and discussed the availability of qualified human resources in Jordan.

In a statement to Jordan Television, the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Qaisar Hijazin underlined the importance of the King's meeting with European and Belgian businessmen, in particular.
