King urges end to aggression

His Majesty King Abdullah today urged the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibility towards the Palestinian people by pressuring Israel to immediately end its aggression on the Gaza Strip launched this morning.

The King called on Israel to halt all military actions and put an end to Palestinian suffering caused by the aggression and the blockade against innocent people.

King Abdullah condemned the attacks which took their toll on women and children, warning that violence will only aggravate the crisis and will not bring security to Israel.

During the day, the King made intensive diplomatic contacts with several Arab and international leaders, including the Egyptian and Palestinian presidents, seeking a unified Arab stance to stop the Israeli attacks and resume negotiations as the only way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and bring peace and stability to the region.

The King said Jordan is putting all its capabilities, including medical support, at the disposal of the Palestinians.

The establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil is a prerequisite for peace and stability in the region, the King said, adding that Israel will not achieve security and peace unless the occupation is ended and the Palestinians regain their right to security, stability and an independent state.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah instructed the government to keep intensive contacts with Arab countries to warn against the catastrophic outcome of the Israeli attacks.

He also directed the government to take all necessary procedures to support Palestinians in Gaza by providing humanitarian and medical aid to help them overcome the harsh conditions caused by the Israeli aggression and blockade.
