His Majesty King Abdullah II discussed with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas the situation in the Palestinian lands.

During a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the King congratulated Abbas on the recent release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel and expressed hope that all Palestinian prisoners would be set free.

The Palestinian president briefed the King on talks he held this week with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to achieve progress in the peace process.

He also thanked His Majesty for Jordan's continued support for the Palestinian people and their aspirations for liberty and independence.
