His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday ordered the formation of a Royal committee, headed by former premier and Senate president Ahmad Lozi, tasked with revisiting the Constitution.

King Abdullah, in a letter sent to Lozi, said the committee's mandate is to do whatever is necessary to improve political life in the Kingdom within the context of the Constitution.

The letter said the panel is to consider all the recommendations to be made by the National Dialogue Committee on constitutional amendments related to the elections and political parties laws.

In it, he stressed that “the objective is to solidify the balance among authorities and to enrich partisan and parliamentary work in pursuit of a constitutional formula that enables Parliament to play its legislative and monitoring role efficiently and independently and the judiciary to be an independent body serving as the referee between the various authorities, agencies and parties.”

Members of the committee are: Senate President Taher Masri, Lower House Speaker Faisal Fayez, Higher Judicial Council President Ratib Wazani, Fayez Tarawneh, Rajai Muasher, Saeed Tal, Taher Hikmat, Marwan Dudin and Riyadh Shakaa.
