King Stresses Support to Governorates Development

Jerash, 2/10/2002, (Communication & Information Division - Royal Hashemite Court) - His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that the programme of developing governorates will receive more support next year to be able to achieve the goals of enhancing citizens' productivity and improving their standards of living through creating job opportunities and limiting the problems of poverty and unemployment.

His Majesty who chaired a meeting on Wednesday for the development council in Jerash affirmed that the continuation of efforts and enhancing the values of work and production will lead to the success of plans set for the socio-economic reform programme which includes the implementation of developmental projects in all governorates, thus achieving economic and social welfare for citizens.

During the meeting which was attended by the prime minister, Royal Court chief and the interior minister, the King said that giving a greater role to the governors to lead the development process in the governorates began to bear fruits, noting that this was evident in the accomplishments of government projects and the increase in the numbers of those willing to receive vocational training.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for the accomplishments that have been achieved so far in the developmental projects in the Jerash Governorate.

He called on the government and governors to exert more efforts to implement developmental projects.
