King Stresses Desire to Benefit from Hong Kong Experiment in Attracting Investments

His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed Jordan's desire to establish strategic relations with Hong Kong and benefit from its experiment in attracting foreign investments, most notably in the maritime field.



During his meeting with Governor of Hong Kong, Tung Chee-hwa, the King said that Jordan has trends to develop its relations with Asia, noting to the Chinese investments in Jordan, which exceeded JD 30 million.



His Majesty expressed Jordan's readiness to present facilities to Hong Kong's companies willing to invest in re-building Iraq's projects.



King Abdullah also extended an invitation to Governor of Hong Kong to visit Jordan with a view to promote bilateral ties in all spheres.



On his part, Tung Chee-hwa, briefed the King on the experiment of Hong Kong in attracting international companies. He also welcomed establishing strong relations with Jordan, particularly in the maritime domain.



The meeting was attended by Minister of the Royal Court, Sameer Rifai, King's media advisor, Ali Fazza', along with His Majesty's accompanying delegation.



King Abdullah's visit to Hong Kong comes within His Majesty's efforts to activate bilateral relations on the political and economic levels and to contribute to attracting further Asian investments, particularly after the success of a number of projects in the Qualified Industrial Zones.



In an interview with the Chinese T.V, King Abdullah hailed the strong Jordanian-Chinese ties, pointing that Jordan has strong economic ties with East Asian countries, especially with Japan, Korea and China.



His Majesty affirmed Jordan's important role in the political issues in the Middle East, particularly towards the Palestinian issue. He also noted to Jordan's intensive efforts that aim at reaching a just and comprehensive solution within the frame of the international resolutions.



In a meeting, that was organized by the youth leaders organization in Hong Kong, King Abdullah stressed that Jordan focused, over the past years, on promoting ties with the far east countries, pointing to the available opportunities to enhance economic ties between Jordan and the far east countries.



The King also called on the businessmen of Hong Kong to benefit form investment climate in Jordan, pointing that the Jordan investment climate is a stable and secure one.



On the other hand, the King added that the Iraqi government faces a great challenge embodied in achieving secure and stabile climate, adding that such climate could be achieved in the future because the Iraqi government is exerting efforts to stop the daily kidnapping series.



His Majesty pointed that Jordan contributed to training personnel of the Iraqi police and army with a view to enable them establish security and stability in Iraq.



On his part, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Bassem Awadallah outlined the developments of the Jordanian economy, highlighting the outcome of the economic reforms that were followed over the past years.



Awadallah also noted that the IT sector in Jordan witnessed a great growth, a fact that attracted grand companies to work in Jordan.



In addition, the Minister stressed that there are great opportunities to invest in the tourism sector in Jordan.



"Jordan has a trend to pursue the privatization program and to give way for foreign investments in vital projects in Jordan such as phosphate, energy, and water," Awadallah added.
