King starts US visit

His Majesty King Abdullah arrived in Washington Wednesday on a several-day working visit during which he will meet US President Barack Obama.

The King will hold a summit with the US president on efforts to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict and means to foster bilateral ties in different fields.

King Abdullah, who is accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania, will meet with several US administration officials and representatives from Arab, Islamic, Christian and Jewish communities to discuss efforts to bring about a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

King Abdullah is also scheduled to deliver a speech on the peace process at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.

The King is accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al Ali.

King Abdullah concluded Tuesday a working visit to Japan, where he met with Emperor of Japan Akihito and discussed bilateral ties and Middle East issues.

The King also met with Japanese senior officials who expressed their country's commitment to support Jordan's economic development efforts.
