His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday held talks with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia on developments in the region and means to bolster bilateral ties.

The two leaders underlined their keenness to further enhance bilateral relations, stressing that Amman and Riyadh see eye-to-eye on challenges facing the Islamic nation.

They called on Arab countries to coordinate efforts and consult among themselves to hammer out unified positions on various issues of common concern, especially the Palestinian issue.

They stressed during their talks that Palestinian-Israeli negotiations should lead to solutions to final status issues and, subsequently, to an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

King Abdullah and the Saudi leader also called on the Lebanese to work to preserve their unity and reach a national accord that would permit the presidential elections to proceed. They stressed their support for the Arab initiative on the political crisis in Lebanon as a suitable framework to overcome the political crisis.

On Iraq, the two sides renewed their support for efforts exerted to realise security and stability in the country, preserve its Arab identity and unity.

The King's talks in Riyadh was one of several diplomatic efforts to find solutions to regional crises ahead of the Arab League summit in Syria late March.
