His Majesty King Abdullah received on Monday a delegation from the Royal College of Defence Studies and briefed them on developments in the Middle East, especially efforts exerted to bring about peace and stability in the region.

At the meeting, attended by Royal Court Chief Bassem Awadallah, the King reviewed Jordan's continued efforts in cooperation with regional and international parties to realise progress in the peace process in accordance with the two-state solution, leading to an end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The King said reaching a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue is the basis for solving regional issues and problems and building a new era of security, stability and prosperity.

The King reviewed Jordan's position towards Iraq and the region in general, referring to programmes and plans Jordan is implementing to stand up to the economic challenges it faces and proceed with the development process in all fields.
