His Majesty King Abdullah returned home on Sunday at the end of a working visit to the United States, Haiti and Spain.

In Washington, King Abdullah held a summit with US President Barack Obama on bilateral ties and regional developments, especially the Syrian crisis, its regional repercussions, and the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

The King held a series of meetings with US Vice President Joe Biden and Congressional leaders. The meetings dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East, bilateral cooperation and the need to stand behind Jordan and encourage the international community to shoulder the burdens of hosting more than 500,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan.

His Majesty also held meetings with representatives of Arab-American and Muslim-American organisations, highlighting their important role in supporting Arab and Muslim causes, conveying issues of Arab and Muslim communities to US decision-makers and enhancing understanding and dialogue between the Arab and Islamic Worlds and the West.

The King also met with leaders of American Jewish organisations in Washington and said that achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East requires concerted efforts by all parties to revive the peace process to establish an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, living in peace and security alongside Israel.

Addressing a meeting of the Jordanian-US Business Alliance, His Majesty spoke about key areas to cement cooperation between the two countries.

The King expressed Jordan's commitment to working closely with the US to promote and encourage economic and trade relations, and to enable the US business community to invest in Jordan and the region, and play a role in promoting economic growth.

On his way back home, His Majesty met in Madrid with King Juan Carlos of Spain and discussed bilateral ties and ways to boost relations in all fields, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East.

The King also visited the Jordanian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Haiti, where he met Jordanian soldiers and checked on their overall conditions, and was briefed on their humanitarian efforts in the crisis-hit and disaster-stricken country.
