King Returns Home

His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Saturday following his participation in the meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

His Majesty's participation in the Forum offered a good opportunity to the private sector in Jordan to use the forum as a platform to show its achievement and presents its plans and suggestions for joint ventures with major international companies in areas such as tourism, aviation, information technology, health care and pharmaceuticals, vehicle spare parts.

In his keynote address before the forum, King Abdullah urged all sectors in the Arab world to address issues such as a responsive and transparent governance, an educational system dedicated to excellence, and a vigorous private sector that can harness the region' s tremendous human potential.

The King affirmed that peace and stability can never be achieved in the Middle East with settling the Palestinian problem, which is the core of conflict in the region.

"We cannot talk about growth and stability in my region, or the globe, we cannot take effective action for reform and development, without addressing a core conflict that threatens our world, the long and hateful cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians," the King said.

King Abdullah also called for close coordination on international security arrangements "within a collective approach that would allow us to take the lead in setting the priorities in the war on terror." The King affirmed that peace and stability can never be achieved in the Middle East with settling the Palestinian problem, which is the core of conflict in the region.

On the sidelines of the forum's sessions, the King held bilateral meeting senior politicians, economic leaders and head of major world companies including the Swiss President, Bahraini Crown Prince, Qatari Foreign Minister, U.S. Vice-President, Canadian Prime Minister, Microsoft Chief Executive, President of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, Sessco Systems Executive Director and many others.
