His Majesty King Abdullah returned home on Thursday from a short visit to the US, where he met with US President George W. Bush and renewed calls for continued US involvement in the Middle East peace process.

At his meeting with Bush, the King said Washington can help overcome impediments to progress in talks between the Palestinians and Israelis and achieve a peace agreement which addresses various final status issues and leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

King Abdullah voiced hope that President Bush's upcoming visit to the region would help accelerate the peace process and achieve tangible developments in negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.
