King Returns Home

His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home on Tuesday following a tour that took him to Bahrain and Sudan.



Upon concluding his visit to Sudan, a joint statement was issued reflecting the identical Jordanian- Sudanese visions towards the various Arab issues.



The two leaders expressed their satisfaction over the results of King Abdullah's visit which aimed at developing bilateral ties on all levels.



King Abdullah, who invited the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Basher to visit Jordan, hailed the efforts of the Sudanese government to establish peace, he also stressed Jordan's support to Sudan to maintain the unity and safety of its lands.



Sudanese President Omar Hassan Bashir expressed his admiration over Jordan's efforts on the Arab, regional, and International levels to defend Arab issues and promote solidarity.



The final statement stressed the importance of having a grater UN role in Iraq to end occupation and enable the Iraqi people run their affairs.



Regarding the situation in the Palestinian lands, the King and the Sudanese President expressed their belief that the only way to establish security and peace in the region is through Israeli withdrawal from the the occupied Palestinian and Arab lands and the establishment an independent Palestinian state.



The statement called on Israel to implement the roadmap peace plan as soon as possible. The statement also called the international community to practice pressure on Israel to stop its policy of demolishing houses, violence and targeting the Palestinian leaderships and to remove the separation wall.



Upon departure, King Abdullah was seen off by Sudanese President Omar Hassan Basher and other Sudanese senior officials.



His Majesty was accompanied by Minister of the Royal Court Samir Rifai, Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Trade and Industry Muhammad Halaiqa, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Basem Awadallah and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Khaled Jamil Sarayreh.
