His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday reiterated that regional and international cooperation is necessary to help the Palestinians and Israelis return to the negotiating table. Negotiations, King Abdullah said, should resolve all final status issues and lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders.
During a meeting with a delegation from the American organisation J Street, the King outlined peace efforts in the region and other related developments.
He said regional and international parties should work to provide the appropriate conditions to facilitate the relaunch of direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis to reach the two-state solution.
During the meeting, King Abdullah also highlighted regional developments that have been unfolding within the context of the Arab Spring, which he said represented an opportunity for Jordan to forge ahead with its reform process.
The visiting delegation expressed appreciation for the King’s efforts to achieve peace and a better future for the region.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Imad Fakhoury, director of the King’s office.
