His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday underlined Jordan's support for the Palestinian Authority's efforts to address all final status issues that, when solved, should lead to an end of the Israeli occupation and to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
At a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday, the two leaders discussed efforts to push negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis forward. King Abdullah stressed the need to find just solutions to major issues, especially the fate of refugees and the future of Jerusalem.
His Majesty added Jordan would continue to exert efforts to encourage the international community to intensify work at this stage to vitalise the peace process until results are achieved on the ground.
Abbas briefed King Abdullah on the latest developments in the negotiations and meetings with Israeli officials.
In statements after the meeting with the King, Abbas said: "We followed up with His Majesty the King on all political developments, especially at this stage as there are lots of things happening with regard to the negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
