His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday reiterated that Jordan will continue to support the Palestinian people in their efforts to reach a permanent peace that restores their legitimate rights.
During a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Aqaba, as part of continuous consultations between Jordan and the Palestinian National Authority, the two leaders discussed developments in efforts to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis.
The two sides evaluated the current situation in general, particularly the outcome of the exploratory meetings recently held in Amman between Palestinian and Israeli negotiators, and Jordan’s contacts with various international parties concerned with the relaunch of peace negotiations that deal with all final status issues.
The two leaders exchanged opinions regarding the peace process in light of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s latest visit to region.
Abbas briefed the King on the Palestinians’ plan of action in the coming phase, voicing appreciation for King Abdullah’s continuous support for the Palestinian people.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Director of the King’s Office Imad Fakhoury, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat and Palestinian Ambassador in Amman Ata Khairi.
