King renews Jordan’s support for new Libya

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday underlined Jordan’s willingness to provide all forms of support to Libya, especially in capacity building, institutional development and humanitarian support.

During a meeting with Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan, King Abdullah stressed the importance of enhancing the cohesion and unity of the Libyan people, while supporting their endeavours for democracy and national dialogue to enable the country to overcome challenges and enjoy stability.

Talks also covered the situation in the Middle East, prospects for further cooperation and means to give the opportunity for the private sector and businesspeople to contribute to Libya’s reconstruction.

Zeidan acquainted the King with the latest political developments in Libya and efforts to rebuild its institutions, voicing his country’s keenness to cooperate with Jordan and benefit from its expertise.

He also voiced his appreciation for the Kingdom’s support for Libya, particularly in offering treatment to hundreds of Libyan patients and others injured during the 2011 revolution in Jordanian hospitals and through Jordan’s field hospital in Libya.
