King Receives US Congress Delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Saturday US Congress delegation, currently visiting Jordan in the course of a regional tour visit.



During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of the Royal Court Samir Rifai, Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher, Senator Raja'e Muasher, the King outlined the regional circumstances and the Jordanian vision on peace making in the region. He also noted his recent efforts in Washington aimed to keep the roadmap alive being a base from which a breakthrough towards a peaceful settlement can launched.



The talks touched upon Jerusalem issue where the King affirmed that the holy city should be kept open to followers of the three monotheistic religions. The King also warned against the danger of evacuating the city from its indigenous Arab population noting that the number of
Christian Arabs in the city has been largely reduced.



Talks also covered the Iraqi situations and the need to accelerate measures to transform the power to the Iraqis.



The delegation's members talked about their impression about Jordan, saying that Jordan is much better than what they have expected.


They also stressed their keenness to have strong ties with Jordan based on mutual respect and understanding.
