His Majesty King Abdullah and UK’s Minister for the Middle East and South Asia Alistair Burt on Thursday reviewed bilateral relations and the latest developments in Arab countries.
King Abdullah discussed with the visiting minister means to strengthen bilateral cooperation, expressing appreciation for Britain’s commitment to supporting Jordan through the Arab Partnership Initiative, the Group of Eight and the European Union. Discussions also addressed the comprehensive reform process in Jordan and steps taken to deepen political and economic development.
In discussions on the peace process, the King stressed that the international community must work to reach a just and a viable settlement for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders.
On his part, Burt commended Jordan’s reform process, expressed the UK’s support for these reform efforts and its commitment to developing cooperation between the two countries, in all fields.
The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Khaled Karaki, Jordan’s Ambassador to Britain Mazen Hmoud and British Ambassador to Jordan Peter Millet.
