King receives Turkish FM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday received Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu at Al Husseiniya Palace.
 
The meeting covered the deep-rooted bilateral ties and means of bolstering them across various fields. 
 
King Abdullah also extended condolences over the victims of the fires and floods witnessed in Turkey recently.
 
Addressing the latest regional developments, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, His Majesty stressed the need to strive for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, praising Turkey’s position in support of the Palestinian cause.
 
The King noted Jordan’s commitment to its historical and religious role in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in line with the Hashemite Custodianship.
 
Discussions also covered efforts to find political solutions to regional crises.
 
For his part, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu highlighted Jordan’s active role in the region, especially in support of efforts to find a solution for the Palestinian issue, and noted the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem in preserving the historical and legal status quo in the city.
 
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, the accompanying Turkish delegation, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Jordan İsmail Aramaz attended the meeting.
